I Samuel

Mas Mical, a outra filha de Saul, amava a Davi; sendo isto anunciado a Saul, pareceu bem aos seus olhos.

And he that brought the tidings answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

Therefore Saul said unto Jehovah, the God of Israel, Show the right. And Jonathan and Saul were taken [by lot]; but the people escaped.

Então falou Davi aos homens que se achavam perto dele, dizendo: Que se fará ao homem que matar a esse filisteu, e tirar a afronta de sobre Israel? pois quem é esse incircunciso filisteu, para afrontar os exércitos do Deus vivo?

Não tenhas a tua serva por filha de Belial, porque, movida pela abundância da minha queixa e da minha provocação, falei até agora.

And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he is keeping the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him; for we will not sit down till he come hither.

Samuel, pois, relatou-lhe tudo, e nada lhe encobriu. Então disse Eli: Ele é o Senhor, faça o que bem parecer aos seus olhos.

Quando a arca da aliança de Jeová chegou ao arraial, rompeu todo Israel em grandes brados, e ressonou a terra.

Então ambos se descobriram à guarnição dos filisteus, e os filisteus disseram: Eis que já os hebreus estão saindo das cavernas em que se tinham escondido.
