I Samuel

{Antigamente em Israel, indo alguém consultar a Deus, dizia assim: Vinde, vamos ao vidente; porque ao profeta de hoje, outrora se chamava vidente.}

E disse aos seus moços: Ide adiante de mim, eis que vos seguirei de perto. O que, porém, não declarou a seu marido Nabal.

Seja, pois, o Senhor juiz, e julgue entre mim e ti; e veja, e advogue a minha causa, e me livre da tua mão.

Porém Jônatas não tinha ouvido quando seu pai conjurara o povo, e estendeu a ponta da vara que tinha na mão, e a molhou no favo de mel; e, tornando a mão à boca, aclararam-se os seus olhos.

And when Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

Agora, pois, tenho ouvido que tens tosquiadores. Ora, os pastores que tens estiveram conosco; agravo nenhum lhes fizemos, nem coisa alguma lhes faltou todos os dias que estiveram no Carmelo.

Então Samuel partiu de Gilgal e foi a Gibeá de Benjamim, e Saul contou soldados que estavam com ele. Eram cerca de seiscentos.

And when Saul inquired of Jehovah, Jehovah answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

And the child Samuel grew on, and increased in favor both with Jehovah, and also with men.
