And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver up the manslayer into his hand; because he smote his neighbor unawares, and hated him not beforetime.

And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

Assim foi posto o povo, todo o arraial que estava ao norte da cidade, e os homens da emboscada que se achavam ao ocidente; e foi Josué aquela noite ao meio do vale.

And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

E Calebe expulsou dali os três filhos de Anaque: Sesai, e Aimã, e Talmai, gerados de Anaque.

E da tribo de Rúben, Bezer e seus arrabaldes, Jaza e seus arrabaldes,

And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.

Tendo partido os filhos de Israel, chegaram ao terceiro dia às cidades deles, que eram Gibeom, Cefira, Beerote e Quiriate-Jearir.

Então Josué lhes disse: Não temais, nem vos atemorizeis; esforçai-vos e tende bom ânimo, porque assim fará o Senhor a todos os vossos inimigos, contra os quais haveis de pelejar.

Então Josué convocou todo o povo de Israel para virem junto dele a Siquem, acompanhados dos seus anciães, magistrados e juízes. E assim vieram apresentar-se perante Deus.
