Levei os chefes judeus e dois coros para cima da muralha e dividi-os em duas longas colunas, andando em direcções opostas por cima da muralha, dando louvores com gratidão enquanto iam andando. O grupo que ia para a direita, em direcção da porta do Monturo, consistia em metade dos chefes de Judá, e incluíam Hosaías, Azarias, Esdras, Mesulão, Judá, Benjamim, Semaías, e Jeremias.

Homens da cidade de Jericó trabalharam ao lado deles, e tiveram também o apoio de uma equipa de trabalhadores chefiada por Zacur (filho de Imri).

E observava os preceitos do seu Deus, e os da purificação; como também os cantores e porteiros, conforme ao mandado de Davi e de seu filho Salomão.
